Congratulations to faculty addiction medicine specialist Alane O’Connor DNP and MaineGeneral Medical Center on their recent grant award from the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration. Their project, Partners for Recovery, will reduce the impact of opioid use disorders by strengthening and expanding partnerships, increasing treatment capacity, and implementing systems related to screening and referral for opioid use disorders. It will support Dr. O’Connor’s ongoing efforts to mentor new buprenorphine prescribers and disseminate evidence based practice work flows. Dr. O’Connor also lectures extensively on the topics of reducing diversion, addressing pain management issues and strategies for successfully tapering patients off buprenorphine.
