Clinical experiences are augmented by didactic sessions which are a combination of case- and topic-based discussions.
Scheduling
The primary didactic time occurs in a dedicated half day once monthly that is free from clinical responsibilities. This is augmented by biweekly Geriatric Assessment Team (GAT) cases, weekly Grand Rounds offered by MaineGeneral, and biweekly interdisciplinary team meetings.
Content
Didactics include a comprehensive review of core geriatric topics, but are also individualized to address each fellow’s learning needs and interests.
Journal Club occurs monthly and includes a brief review of multiple abstracts selected by fellows and faculty as well as a formal review of an article selected during the review of abstracts the previous month.
