Max Schaefer DO (FMR 2021): To meet a need in the community I moved to, I have worked hard to develop a substance use disorder (SUD) clinic in Southwest Michigan the past 3 years. I started the clinic based out of our family medicine clinic and we rapidly outgrew the space. We recently celebrated the launch of our new formal addiction medicine service line, which we operate as a low barrier clinic.

Thank you to Greg Feero MD and the current graduating class of 2025 who worked with me to put together a literature review of the financial feasibility of SUD clinic. Also, Nick Gallagher DO & Brett Uhler DO for fielding phone calls as I worked through this process.  Grateful for the educational foundation I received while at Maine-Dartmouth and the support I continue receive from our Maine-Dartmouth/Maine General community. You all are Most Excellent!
