23rd Annual Nevola Symposium on Spirituality and Health

Recent national surveys suggest chronic, recurrent pain affects as many as half of Americans, at an annual cost in health care and lost productivity of well over $100 billion. Many of us experience this on a daily basis, either personally or as care providers.

The 2009 Nevola Symposium presents a vibrant assortment of evidence-based and experiential approaches to helping people live with pain. In keeping with the theme and mission of the symposium, the approaches we will explore draw substantially upon spiritual traditions and perspectives, from the keynote speaker's focus on mindfulness and values-based living to the spiritual energy of a Native American drumming circle and a diverse collection of interactive workshop choices.

We hope you will come away with some personal refreshment, good networking experiences and creative ideas/skills you may apply in your work or community setting.

Dedication

As always, this symposium honors the memory of Thomas Nevola, MD, an energetic and devoted young physician whose personal and professional passion for spirituality and health care was inspirational.
