Maine Dartmouth Family Practice (MDFP) is located at 4 Sheridan Drive in the small rural community of Fairfield, Maine. Established in 1990, there are 21,000 patient visits per year and a population of approximately 7500 patients. This growing practice is housed on the second floor of the building and Four Seasons Family Practice (FSFP), a faculty practice established in April 2001, is contained on the first floor. We anticipate that MDFP will relocate to the second floor of the newly-renovated Thayer Center for Health in nearby Waterville during fall 2014.
The Fairfield practice serves a mixed suburban and rural population. Four residents per class practice at this site. The faculty at MDFP includes five family physicians, a pediatrician, and four PA/NPs. There are 19 exam rooms and two procedure rooms for colposcopy, vasectomy, LEEP, and minor surgery.
The practice is structured in care teams; a small rural practice size and extremely cohesive staff are hallmarks of training at MDFP.
The facility has a teaching area/library and an area for patient education, as well as two conference rooms that connect us to our hospital and Augusta facilities by interactive TV systems. Residents share a large common workspace on the second floor with individual seating areas and computers.
General hours of operation are Mon 8 am to 8 pm and Tues-Fri 8 am to 5 pm. An advanced access scheduling system allows patients to be seen within 48 hours of their request.
