It would be so much easier to write about the other people who work here, as they are often the reason I can smile when I get here. I could write about Nancy Zurbach who reads about war and loves her poodles, or Cheryl Seymour who stays up late making cakes for residents. I could go on about John Woytowicz whose knowledge of herbs is astounding. And then there is Ann Byron who has worked here forever and takes care of everyone. And speaking of taking care of there is Karen Gershman who takes residents away to visit her house by the sea. And then there is Jim Schneid who can take you away from the stresses of medical care by playing his accordion. If you were to ask these people about me they would probably say that Persis is usually eating, or laughing, or knitting, or all of the above.
I am often delighted by my patients and so flattered that they continue to trust me with their health and their children's health. I often feel after a morning of seeing patients that I have just met with a bunch of old friends.
Sandi Taker RN, Cosmina Fachiol MD, and I teach the home visit curriculum together; we have a lot of wonderful home visit stories. My medical interests also include integrative medicine. I will complete the Fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine, in the summer of 2011. Created by Andrew Weil, MD the Fellowship in Integrative Medicine has achieved international recognition as the leading integrative medical education program in the world. I have loved every minute of it.
