Pronunciation of Dr. Mark Sutherland

Mark Sutherland is a classically trained osteopath practicing integrative and holistic patient care. He trained at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences where he also was accepted into the undergraduate osteopathic principles and practice fellowship. His rotating internship year was spent in Independence, Missouri, and he completed his family medicine residency at Maine-Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency. After practicing rural full spectrum family medicine in Kansas and Maine for seven years, he decided to specialize in osteopathic treatment and gained board certification in osteopathic neuromusculoskeletal medicine through the Maine-Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine (NMM) Plus One program.

He is the former program director for the ONMM Residency at Maine-Dartmouth and currently serves as faculty for both the ONMM residency and the family medicine residency. He works in the Maine Dartmouth Collaborative Care Center, which is a growing integrative holistic referral center for patients with acute and complex medical health issues. He also works with the osteopathic neuromusculoskeletal medicine consultation team within the regional hospital, the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta.

Mark loves life, loves nature and its expression in the environment through the ocean, the land and all forms that breathe. You might catch him strumming the strings of his acoustic Bourgeois guitar with his close friends on a weekday night jam session, or possibly sitting in the moonlight with his partner Nancy feeling the tides near Pemaquid Point. No matter where you run into him, he will show you a warm smile and an open heart.
