Andrew Rice, MD

Maine-Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency
Andy attended Washington & Lee University in mountains of Virginia and the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore. He developed an interest in underserved populations through work in a free clinic and by organizing community health fairs. Andy felt that building relationships with your patients and communicating clearly were fundamental to providing good care, and he was attracted to Family Medicine because it embodied these ideas.
He moved north to complete his residency at Maine-Dartmouth in Fairfield. After graduation, Andy worked in a rural community health center in Maine—practicing full-spectrum family medicine with OB—before returning to Maine-Dartmouth to join the faculty in 2008. His medical interests include rural medicine, orthopedics, pediatrics, and office procedures.
Andy’s other job is restoring a 19th century Maine farmhouse where he lives with his wife and two children. He also enjoys fly fishing and spending time outdoors.
