Alane B. O’Connor, FNP

Alane B. O’Connor, FNPAlane was born and raised in a small town in central Maine. She earned her undergraduate degree in economics from Colby College. While at Colby, Alane competed on the NCAA Division I alpine ski team and led outdoor orientation trips for undergraduates. She also spent a semester studying agricultural economics at the University of Adelaide in South Australia. After Colby, Alane worked as an economic consultant on the financial analysis of Superfund site cleanups and for the Department of Energy on the long-term storage and disposal of spent nuclear fuel. Alane then decided to pursue a career in health care and enrolled in the graduate program at Boston College’s William F. Connell School of Nursing. While at Boston College, she published papers on energy production and its implications on health as well as modifiable risk factors for impaired fertility. Alane recently completed her doctorate in nursing at Vanderbilt University. Her research focused on urban-rural differences in the prevalence of diabetes and coronary heart disease. Alane’s clinical interests include addiction medicine particularly opiate dependency during pregnancy. In her free time, Alane enjoys hiking and snowshoeing as well as community service work with her church.
