Andrea Abrell

Andrea Abrell

Andrea was born in California and moved frequently as a child due to her father's work with the National Park Service. She completed her undergraduate studies at the College of the Atlantic where she self-designed a degree program in Human Ecology with a focus on women's health. After college, she worked as a licensed massage therapist, a home health aide, an in-home counselor for developmentally disabled adults and children, and a physical therapy assistant. She completed her pre-medical coursework at the University of Maine, Orono. While at UNE, Andrea served as president of Medical Students for Choice. She completed her third year core clerkships at Maine-Dartmouth. Outside of medicine, she enjoys spending time with her family, writing, and exploring the outdoors.



Darryl Bates

Darryl Bates

Darryl was born in Oakland, California and completed undergraduate studies in History at UCLA. He went on to study medicine at UCLA, where he volunteered in Honduras and rural Mexico. Darryl extended medical school to begin an apprenticeship at the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine which he continued until 2002. He went on to complete a rotating internship at Highland Hospital in Oakland, CA. After finishing internship in 2000, Darryl worked for the city of San Francisco, coordinating community health programs at homeless shelters, drug treatment centers and mental health facilities. He also simultaneously founded and managed a clinic in Oakland where he served as a provider of both traditional Eastern and Western medicine. Outside of medicine, he enjoys historical fiction, water sports, and travel.



Aaron Davis

Aaron Davis

Aaron was born and raised in Michigan; he moved to Florida as a young adult. His undergraduate studies were in Anthropology, Psychology, and Biology at Florida State University. While in college he was involved in research about the use of hypnotherapy in patients with mental illness. Aaron went on to study medicine at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine where he was actively involved in AMSA, ACOFP, AAO and PSR. He volunteered at a local soup kitchen, served on multiple hospital and school committees, and developed and implemented a curriculum to integrate osteopathy into third and fourth year clinical rotations. Aaron completed an OMM elective here at Maine-Dartmouth. Outside of medicine he enjoys a variety of outdoor activities, music, martial arts, organic gardening, and social activism.



Daniel Einstein

Daniel Einstein

Dan was born and raised in Switzerland. He studied Peace and Conflict Resolution as an undergraduate at UC Berkeley followed by 3 years of research in energy-saving technologies at the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. He completed post-baccalaureate studies at Mills College in California and during that time was actively involved with the Berkeley Free Clinic. He went on to found a new network of urban community clinics in Oakland, the Street Level Health Project, which became an incorporated non-profit organization. While a student at Case Western Reserve University, Dan was a participant in the Complementary Medicine Interest Group and the National Rural Health Association; he also completed a sub-internship at Maine-Dartmouth. In his spare time, he enjoys all outdoor activities, especially gardening and bicycling.



Daniel Gibbons

Daniel Gibbons

Dan is originally from New York. He completed undergraduate studies at the University of Colorado and the University of Massachusetts, majoring in a self-designed curriculum in Holistic Health. Dan worked as an EMT and as a behavior specialist caring for head-injured long-term-care patients prior to entering medical school. While a student at University of New England, he was active in planning medical school orientation and volunteering as an OMM teaching assistant. Dan also served as an AMSA End of Life Fellow and was co-President of the Integrative Medicine Club. In his spare time, he enjoys music, playing guitar and trombone in his band 'Circle of Willis'; he is also a Reiki Master.



Laura Gladstone

Laura Gladstone

Laura was born in New Hampshire and completed undergraduate studies in Biology and Italian at Vassar College. She entered medical school at Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, but transferred after her first year to the University of New England. While a medical student she volunteered at the Biddeford Free Clinic and as a domestic violence hotline counselor. She also sang with a local a cappella group and was an anatomy tutor. Laura graduated from for medical school in 2007 and spent the following year traveling. She spent two months with the Himalayan Health Exchange in rural India and six months in Belize at Hillside Health Care International. She also hiked the Superior Hiking Trail in Minnesota. Her interests outside of medicine include a variety of outdoor activities, contra dancing and music.



Selma Holden

Selma Holden

Selma is originally from Ohio. She studied Biomedical Engineering, earning her Bachelors and Masters degrees from Tufts University; her research involved the design of a web-based electronic medical record network that could support video-teleconferencing and portable smart-card records. She went on to work for two years as a clinical research coordinator at Children’s Hospital in Oakland, CA and subsequently began medical school at Case Western Reserve University. While in medical school she was involved in AMSA and Medical Students for Choice; she also performed as part of a yearly charity variety show and volunteered in local needle exchange program. Outside of medicine, she enjoys playing the tenor saxophone, singing, practicing yoga, and a variety of outdoor activities.



Anne Jones

Anne Jones

Anne was born and raised in New Jersey. She studied Biology at Cornell University and then went on to medical school at UMDNJ-SOM. As a medical student, she gave lectures and workshops about careers in healthcare to high school students. She was also involved in the university: as president of the student council and member of the medical school curriculum and admissions committees. Anne also worked as a peer tutor and served as the NJ student delegate to the AOA. She was honored as one of two osteopathic students in the country to be selected for the Osteopathic Health Policy Intern Program in 2008. Anne completed an elective at Maine-Dartmouth in 2007. In her spare time, she enjoys music: vocal, piano, and flute as well as cooking and travel.



Maryclaire O'Neill

Maryclaire O'Neill

Maryclaire grew up in Washington, D.C. and traveled throughout the country and the world while growing up. She received a BFA in photography from Barry College in Florida. She worked in design and graphic art, including as a consultant to the United Nations Development Fund for Women, prior to entering medical school at the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. As a medical student, she was active in AMSA at a local and national level, as well as a member of student government, the AAO, and the college Spiritual Committee. Maryclaire served as a peer mentor and a volunteer at a local soup kitchen; she also worked as a yoga instructor. Outside of medicine she enjoys mountain biking, camping, travel, meditation, and independent film.



Dustin Sulak

Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine

Dustin Sulak

Dustin is originally from the Chicago area. He studied Biology and Nutrition Science at Indiana University in Bloomington. He has worked as a personal trainer, test preparation teacher, and as an activities coordinator for mentally ill group home residents. Dustin has a keen interest in holistic approaches to health, and practices a variety of healing arts. He is a certified Reiki Sensei, Clinical Hypnotherapist, HypnoBirthing Instructor, and BodyTalk Practitioner. As a student at the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine of Midwestern University, Dustin founded the Integrative Medicine Club. He has studied many styles of osteopathic manipulation including cranial and biodynamic osteopathy, and he embodies osteopathic philosophy in his medical practice. For fun Dustin enjoys drumming, dancing, hiking, and cooking.
